An intensive, well-rounded and balanced curriculum successfully prepares Akiva students for today’s world. The foundation of our academic program is designed to inspire our students to engage in a lifelong love of learning. Our students acquire impressive academic skills, are enthusiastic learners, and develop a deep love for learning. They acquire self-confidence and a strong self-image and develop respect for others and the environment.
We start with an understanding of the developmental needs of children and build our program around the ways in which children gather information, acquire and apply skills, and share what they have learned. The content of our curriculum reflects the varied interests of elementary school students and provides the challenges that we believe will enhance growth and stimulate engagement with classroom experiences.
Our students’ success is reflected in their consistent high test scores. Akiva Academy participates in the Ohio Department of Education’s Achievement Testing Program. During the 2008 Spring Testing, 98% of Akiva students reached the proficiency level in reading, and all students significantly exceeded the state of Ohio proficiency levels in math and writing.
Akiva understands that technological savviness is critical in today’s world for success. Outstanding technological resources exist with a 3:1 student to computer ratio and a wireless technology environment throughout the school. Our philosophy is that computer skills are best learned when integrated across the curriculum and promoted throughout classroom instruction. Technology literacy is a necessary skill of students in today’s world.
